Vrishali Shekhar

Vrishali is an Economist and has worked with the Human Development Network of the World Bank in India.She was part of the World Bank team that assisted the Government of India in the implementation of a subsidized health insurance scheme for the unorganised work force on a national scale in India. She has extensively worked on the coverage of social safety nets such as minimum employment guarantee, health insurance, pension schemes, food security etc amongst the urban poor in India. She has authored several papers on these issues as well.She moved to Hong Kong last year and has been working with a renowned Chinese scholar at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to study the impact of the housing reform on the inter generational transfers amongst the eldery in China.Vrishali has had an exceptional academic record throughout her student life and holds a Post Graduate degree in Developmental Economics from Oxford University and an Economics degree from Delhi University – standing amongst the toppers with distinction at both universities. Vrishali is a trained classical dancer and follows cricket religiously. She loves to travel and has close to 25 visa stamps on her passport. In her free time she enjoys reading, playing squash and badminton. She is currently trying her hand at learning Cantonese. [+]
