We Will Be Lions

"These guys are into creating glam-influenced anthems. It's no easy task, but they do it quite well." -The Bay Bridged

In the Winter of 2008, on a windy mountain road in eastern Washington, two friends discovered a common love of beat poetry, existential philosophy, and Woodstock era songwriting. Their musical connection was palpable even then, though they did not know how it would eventually manifest.

Four years later, Josh Martin and Marcus Bowers reconnected at a restaurant in the North Beach district of San Francisco, ordered fried noodles, and decided to make high-energy, electronic, glam/pop. Their mission was simple, create the most epic music on the planet that grooved with a primitive, sexy, passion. It wasn't until they met drummer Alex Hersler and bassist Hunter Wiley a few months later that their true destiny became clear, world domination of course.

The music of We Will Be Lions has been compared to that of Portugal. The Man, Talking Heads, and Wolf Parade. Their debut EP, You Will Be Heroes, was released in March of 2013. They are preparing to release their first full length album in May of 2014. They have opened for New Zealand rock stars Six60 at The Hotel Utah and Oklahoma's Deerpeople at Cafe Du Nord. They have headlined numerous shows at small venues and house parties and rocked a five month residency at The Monarch club.

"The San Francisco based quartet channeled a hypothetical marriage of David Byrne and Tears for Fears, their glampop polished to a high sheen...much to my delight We Will Be lions, exuded the sinuous energy of David Bowie hosting a bisexual ménage a trois beneath a disco ball." -SF Weekly

"We Will Be Lions have a bright future with plenty of material to come." -Examiner.com [+]
