Weingut Pfaffl Altenberg St. Laurent 2009

The Pfaffls have decided to cultivate St. Laurent on the Altenberg vineyard which sits at the same latitude as Burgundy. The diernals - or temperature-differences between day and night, caused by proximity to the nearby forest, brings slow growth, which suits the St. Laurent grape. The grapes can remain on the vines for a longer time which brings more complexity into the wine. The soil here consists of loamy loess, and the vines are approximately 8 years old. [+]
