Wulf grew up in East Memphis and originally found an interest in photography and photoshop. What originally sparked his interest in rap was listening to a Bone Thugs-n-Harmony mixed CD in middle school. When he was in 11th grade, Xavier and a friend went to a studio and recorded a song. After going back several times, he bought his own studio equipment at his house and started making music under the name Ethel Wulf. Ethel translates to noble, which is how he characterized his sound at the time, and Wolf was an animal he drew inspiration from.
Xavier first got noticed by Amber London of the Raider Klan when he released the song "1st Chapta of tha Phonk". They ended up collaborating on the song "Trillnation" and he started to get more buzz. SpaceGhostPurp, leader of the Raider Klan, eventually caught on and invited Xavier to join his collective. A month later, Xavier released his first mixtape, The Wolfgang’s Rodolphe.
Xavier left Raider Klan in June of 2013. He disagreed with the creative direction of the collective and departed to go his own direction. He soon linked up with Bones and collaborated on two mixtapes together, ダサい and Caves.
Xavier gained traction in his own right and started his own crew "The Hollow Gang." As of June 2017, Xavier has over 254,000 followers on SoundCloud, 122,000 followers on Twitter, and over 170,000 followers on Instagram.
